Chess Simul at Cuirt 2007 with Yury Rochev

On Sat April 29th 2007, Yury Rochev took on 9 of the Galway Chess Club members in the lounge area of Galway's Town Hall Theatre in a link-up with the Cuirt festival. Yury stepped in at late notice when Chess Master Jon Manley was unable to travel from England. The link wiht Cuirt was that Jon is the publisher of the book 'The Grass Arena' by John Healy who featured at Cuirt 2007 and whose book involved a major interest in chess.

Yury ended up playing 9 members of the Galway chess club - at the same time. Each club member had 45 minutes on their clock while Yury had 75 minutes. Since Yury had to make a move at each of the 9 tables in sequential order, his time was used up much quicker than each of the club members. Despite that, Yury managed to win all 9 games!
